Argentina is moving towards prohibiting online bingo and other gambling sites.
A bill proposed in Buenos Aires, aims to ban all forms of online gambling in the province. It is similar to the bill presented to the Argentinian state from Santa Fe, calling for penalties to be given for local Internet Service Provider companies that allow Argentinian citizens access to online gambling websites.
Suggested penalties for breaches to the proposed bill range from fines to prison terms!!
The man behind the bill, Councillor Luis Alberto Mauri, who believes it is the State's responsibility to guarantee that such games are offered through legal channels said;
"We understand that gambling is a part of social behaviour and increasingly popular online, but the fact that citizens in our province have access to this method of gambling does not mean that the State should refrain from excercising control over it".
